Inspection & Reports
Electrical Testing & Certification in Bristol
Inspection and testing tells you the real condition of your wiring – whether you are deciding on a rewire, buying or letting a property, or simply want reassurance. Every installation we complete is certified as standard.

Electrical Installation Condition Reports
An EICR is a thorough inspection and test of an existing installation. Each observation is coded by severity, from items requiring urgent attention to recommendations for improvement, and the report states whether the installation is satisfactory for continued use. For homeowners it is the most reliable way to decide whether a rewire is needed. For landlords in England it is a legal requirement at least every five years and at each change of tenancy.
Certification of New Work
All electrical work we carry out is inspected and tested as it progresses and certified on completion. A full or partial rewire and a consumer unit replacement receive an Electrical Installation Certificate; smaller alterations receive a Minor Electrical Installation Works Certificate. Where the work is notifiable under Part P of the Building Regulations, the notification is made and you receive the compliance certificate for your records.
Testing Before You Commit
If you are weighing up a rewire, a condition report first is money well spent. It may confirm that a full rewire is necessary, or it may show that a partial rewire or consumer unit upgrade will do. Either way you make the decision on evidence.

Electrical Testing & Certification FAQs
How long does an EICR take?
Typically a few hours for an average house, depending on the number of circuits and how accessible the installation is. Power to each circuit is off briefly while it is tested.
What do the codes on an EICR mean?
C1 means danger present, C2 potentially dangerous, C3 improvement recommended, and FI means further investigation is needed. C1, C2 and FI observations result in an unsatisfactory report.
Do you provide the certificates for my own records and for my landlord obligations?
Yes. You receive the full report or certificate electronically, and landlords receive the documentation needed to give to tenants and the local authority on request.
