Targeted Rewires
Partial Rewiring in Bristol
Not every home needs a complete rewire. A partial rewire replaces the circuits, rooms or floors that need it while keeping sound, modern wiring in place – a practical option for many Bristol properties.

When a Partial Rewire Makes Sense
Homes are rarely wired all at once. A kitchen extension, a loft conversion or a previous owner’s refurbishment may have left your property with a mix of modern circuits and much older wiring. Where the newer work is sound, replacing only the tired sections gives you a safe, compliant installation without paying to redo work that does not need redoing.
Common partial rewires in Bristol homes include rewiring the upstairs lighting and socket circuits in a terrace where the ground floor was done during a kitchen refit, replacing a single deteriorated circuit flagged on a condition report, or rewiring one floor of a converted flat.
Making Old and New Work Together
The skill in a partial rewire lies at the boundaries. New circuits must be properly integrated with the retained ones, the consumer unit must protect both, and earthing and bonding must be right for the whole installation, not just the new part. We test the retained circuits as well as the new ones so that the certificate you receive reflects the condition of the installation as a whole.
Honest Advice on Scope
Sometimes an assessment shows that a partial rewire would leave too much ageing wiring in place to be worthwhile, and a full rewire is the better long-term decision. Equally, we will tell you when a partial rewire or a consumer unit upgrade is all that is needed. The recommendation follows the findings.

Partial Rewiring FAQs
Is a partial rewire cheaper than a full rewire?
Usually, because less cable and labour is involved, but the saving depends on how much of the installation can be retained. The assessment will show what is realistic.
Can you rewire just one room?
Yes. Single-room or single-circuit rewires are common, particularly alongside a kitchen or bathroom refit.
Will the old and new wiring be certified together?
Yes. We test the retained circuits as well as the new ones and the certification reflects the whole installation.
